The Opportunity:

As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Science department by preparing practicals and resources that enhance curriculum delivery for Key Stages 3-5. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative team that values innovation and continuous improvement in science education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain science equipment, materials, and resources for practical lessons.
  • Support the Science department in delivering high-quality, engaging science lessons.
  • Ensure laboratory and science areas are safe, clean, and well-organized.
  • Assist with the storage, labeling, and management of scientific apparatus and chemicals.
  • Provide technical support to science staff and students during practical sessions.
  • Collaborate with science teachers to develop and implement practical experiments.
  • Monitor and maintain science equipment, reporting any faults or issues promptly.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of science teaching and learning within the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in a science-related field.
  • Experience in a school or educational setting, preferably in a science laboratory environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards in a science laboratory.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of science curriculum requirements for Key Stages 3-5.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and chemical safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
