The Opportunity:

As a Graduate Librarian, you will play a key role in supporting the library’s mission to provide a welcoming and information-rich environment for students. This role offers structured training and the opportunity to develop essential library skills, making it ideal for those aiming to pursue a postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a calm, comfortable, and welcoming library environment that supports both study and reading for pleasure.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the library, including circulation of library resources and organisation of materials.
  • Assist with processing new stock, maintaining well-ordered shelves, and creating engaging library content for both in-person and online audiences.
  • Manage the Issue Desk at the start of each day, answering enquiries, registering classes, and supervising pupils as needed.
  • Ensure a focused and orderly environment through strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong interpersonal, IT, and behaviour management skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service and a welcoming library experience.
  • Willingness to learn and develop library knowledge through structured training and support.

Preferred

  • Prior experience working in a library or similar setting.
  • Interest in pursuing a postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Science or a related field.
  • Experience with social media content creation or library promotion.
