The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to help maintain the school’s gardens, sports pitches, golf course, and wider estate. This role is essential in supporting the school’s environment and ensuring it remains a welcoming space for students and the public alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair sports pitches, gardens, and golf course to the highest standards.
  • Carry out general grounds maintenance around school buildings, including drainage works and fencing repairs.
  • Operate machinery in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure the estate is well-kept and visually appealing for both school and public use.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks on time.
  • Prepare and renovate areas of the estate as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures when using equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the grounds team and school staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a similar grounds maintenance role.
  • Strong organisational and time-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations when using machinery.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of appearance and functionality.

Preferred

  • Experience with sports pitch maintenance.
  • Previous work in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Familiarity with golf course maintenance.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
