The Opportunity:

As the Head of Art and Design, you will lead a dynamic department and inspire students to explore creativity through art and design. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum, mentor staff, and drive excellence in a school dedicated to sustainability and student growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Art and Design department, ensuring alignment with the school’s vision and curriculum standards.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level, with a focus on student achievement and engagement.
  • Support the development and review of curriculum and schemes of work for KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Promote a stimulating and safe learning environment that celebrates student success and fosters creativity.
  • Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and ensure the welfare of all students.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Head of Curriculum to implement school-wide initiatives and policies.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation, sustainability, and excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, colleagues, and the wider school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Native-level English language skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art and Design or a related field, with a PGCE in Education and QTS or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Art and Design in the UK or a reputable British school overseas
  • Proven track record of achieving outstanding GCSE and/or A Level results
  • Demonstrated ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching textiles
  • Familiarity with design software such as Photoshop
  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership roles
