The Opportunity:
As the Head of Faculty – Expressive Arts, you will lead and develop a dynamic faculty encompassing Drama, Music, and Art. This is a strategic role that requires strong subject expertise, leadership, and a passion for driving academic and co-curricular excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Expressive Arts Faculty, ensuring high standards in teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Oversee curriculum development and ensure alignment with national and international standards.
- Deliver outstanding outcomes in practical examination subjects, including GCSE, A Level, and BTEC.
- Build and manage a vibrant programme of enrichment, performance, and co-curricular activities.
- Ensure quality assurance across all subjects within the faculty.
- Develop and maintain strong external partnerships and collaborate with visiting practitioners.
- Support and lead a diverse team of staff, providing professional development and strategic guidance.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement planning and engage in strategic dialogue at senior leadership level.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- High Quality Degree in Art & Design or a related Expressive Arts discipline (MOFA Attested).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (MOFA Attested).
- Minimum 2 years teaching in the National Curriculum for England in the UK or UAE.
- Ability to teach Art & Design to GCSE and A Level or BTEC Level 3.
- Proven track record of strong outcomes at GCSE and A Level and/or BTEC.
- Demonstrated experience of faculty or departmental leadership.
- Deep understanding of assessment, moderation, and quality assurance in practical subjects.
- Experience contributing to whole-school strategy and improvement planning.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire colleagues to achieve excellence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
- Commitment to the wellbeing of all students within their care.
- Cleared Police and Safeguarding Background Checks.
Preferred
- Experience with curriculum development and qualification pathway evolution.
- Experience in leading creative and performance-based enrichment programmes.
- Experience working with external partners and organisations.
- Experience in managing and mentoring a team of staff.
