As the Head of Art and Design Technology, you will lead a key curriculum area and play a central role in shaping the school’s creative offer. This is a significant leadership opportunity for an ambitious practitioner ready to raise standards and deliver excellent outcomes for students across all key stages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction of the Art and Design Technology department
- Ensure consistently high quality teaching and learning across all key stages
- Develop and refine a challenging and engaging curriculum
- Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies
- Lead, support and develop teaching staff within the department
- Contribute to whole-school priorities and the wider life of the academy
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school objectives
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong subject knowledge in Art and/or Design Technology
- Proven track record of effective teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience desirable
- Demonstrated ability to improve outcomes and raise expectations
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Commitment to high standards and student success
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum leadership or departmental management
- Experience with whole-school strategic planning
- Familiarity with the Science of Learning and Rosenshine’s principles
- Experience in developing and delivering professional development programs
