The Opportunity:

As the Head of Art and Design Technology, you will lead a key curriculum area and play a central role in shaping the school’s creative offer. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Art and Design Technology department
  • Ensure consistently high quality teaching and learning across all key stages
  • Develop and refine a challenging and engaging curriculum
  • Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies
  • Lead, support and develop teaching staff within the department
  • Contribute to whole-school priorities and the wider life of the academy
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school objectives

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art and/or Design Technology
  • Proven track record of effective teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with Key Stage 5 experience desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to improve outcomes and raise expectations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Commitment to high standards and student success

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum leadership or departmental management
  • Experience with whole-school strategic planning
  • Familiarity with the Science of Learning and Rosenshine’s principles
  • Experience in developing and delivering professional development programs
