Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Visual Arts Department, ensuring a high-quality curriculum and strong student outcomes.
- Manage a team of experienced art specialists and support staff, fostering a collaborative and inspiring working environment.
- Deliver a dynamic and engaging arts program, incorporating specialist facilities and enrichment opportunities.
- Coordinate and expand enrichment activities, including trips, guest workshops, and community outreach projects.
- Promote and support student progression to leading arts universities and creative careers.
- Ensure the teaching of virtues is embedded within the curriculum and school ethos.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-disciplinary learning and student experiences.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a Visual Arts Department, ideally as a subject leader or second in charge.
- Strong knowledge of art and design curricula at both GCSE and A Level.
- Experience in managing and developing a team of specialist teachers.
- Commitment to embedding character development and virtues in teaching practice.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in delivering enrichment programs and community outreach in the arts.
- Familiarity with a range of art techniques and technologies.
- Experience working in a school with a strong focus on student well-being and staff development.
- Background in arts education or the creative industries.
