Summary:

The Opportunity:

As an Art Teacher, you will deliver a creative and personalised curriculum for Post-16 students with autism, helping them develop artistic skills and prepare for future pathways in education, employment or vocational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Art, Design and Technology lessons tailored to the needs of Post-16 learners with autism.
  • Design a curriculum that supports artistic development and functional life skills.
  • Differentiate learning to meet diverse abilities, communication styles and sensory needs.
  • Use creative teaching methods to engage students and build confidence and independence.
  • Assess and track student progress in line with individual EHCP targets.
  • Support students in exploring progression pathways such as college courses, employment or creative industries.
  • Contribute to developing a bespoke creative curriculum aligned with Preparing for Adulthood outcomes.
  • Build partnerships with external providers to enhance student opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Art, Design and/or Technology
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and inclusive practice
  • Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse needs
  • Commitment to supporting students with autism and additional needs
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred

  • Experience working within an ASC or SEND setting
  • Knowledge of Preparing for Adulthood framework
  • Experience delivering vocational or creative pathways
  • Understanding of sensory needs and autism-friendly environments
