The Opportunity:

As the Head of Boarding (Mandarin speaking), you will lead and develop a high-quality residential experience that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth. This role is central to shaping the boarding strategy and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Boarding Department in alignment with the school’s vision and values
  • Lead and manage a diverse boarding team including dorm mentors and support staff
  • Ensure student welfare, safeguarding, and wellbeing are at the centre of all boarding practices
  • Develop and implement a rich boarding programme that enhances students’ personal and social development
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and academic staff
  • Oversee daily boarding operations, ensuring consistency, structure, and high standards across all dormitories
  • Monitor student behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement, working closely with academic and pastoral teams
  • Contribute to whole-school development planning as a member of the leadership team

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or above
  • Proven boarding leadership experience in an international or residential school setting
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities
  • High level of cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an international school environment

Preferred

  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese
  • Experience in a bilingual or international school setting
  • Experience with student wellbeing and pastoral care programmes
  • Background in developing and leading boarding strategies
