The Opportunity:
As the Head of Chemistry, you will lead the department and inspire students to achieve excellence in science. This role offers the chance to shape a dynamic learning environment and make a lasting impact on student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Chemistry department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver high-quality lessons to students across all key stages, up to KS5.
- Develop and implement a robust curriculum that supports student achievement and engagement.
- Support and mentor junior staff, providing professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning and student progress.
- Monitor and assess student performance, providing targeted support where needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and external organisations.
- Contribute to the wider school community through active participation in events and initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience teaching Chemistry up to KS5 and Science up to KS4.
- Proven ability to manage a department and lead a team of staff.
- Strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or taking on a senior teaching role.
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
- Experience in a similar school or academy setting.
