The Opportunity:

As the Head of Chemistry, you will lead the department and inspire students to achieve excellence in science. This role offers the chance to shape a dynamic learning environment and make a lasting impact on student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Chemistry department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons to students across all key stages, up to KS5.
  • Develop and implement a robust curriculum that supports student achievement and engagement.
  • Support and mentor junior staff, providing professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning and student progress.
  • Monitor and assess student performance, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and external organisations.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through active participation in events and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience teaching Chemistry up to KS5 and Science up to KS4.
  • Proven ability to manage a department and lead a team of staff.
  • Strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or taking on a senior teaching role.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience in a similar school or academy setting.
