The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Classics curriculum to ensure it is engaging, innovative, and aligned with the school’s values.
  • Inspire and motivate students through high-quality teaching and a passion for the subject.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to support interdisciplinary learning and whole-school initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous professional development and innovation in teaching practices.
  • Work closely with parents and the wider school community to promote the importance of Classics in a modern education.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring that all pupils are challenged and supported.
  • Contribute to the development of school policies and strategies related to academic and pastoral care.
  • Represent the school at relevant events and engage with the wider educational community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A strong academic background in Classics, ideally with a degree or higher qualification in the subject.
  • Proven experience in teaching Classics at the primary or secondary level.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • A commitment to fostering student engagement and academic excellence.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
