The Opportunity:

As Head of Computing, you will lead a dedicated team and shape the future of computing education, inspiring students with innovative teaching and a focus on real-world problem-solving. This role is central to driving excellence and digital literacy across all key stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a team of teachers to deliver high-quality computing education and promote professional development.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that enhance student learning and achievement.
  • Ensure a cohesive and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all students and prepares them for future careers.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s vision and values.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, equality, and high expectations within the department.
  • Support the integration of technology and digital skills across the school community.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Represent the department in school-wide initiatives and external partnerships.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a computing or ICT department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in computing, ICT, and Creative iMedia.
  • Experience in developing and delivering innovative teaching strategies.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of educators.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to promoting digital literacy and real-world problem-solving.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading departmental improvement initiatives.
  • Background in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard computing qualifications.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language or working with diverse student populations.
