Head of Dance required at a specialist arts school. Lead and inspire through dance education.

The Opportunity:

As the Head of Dance, you will lead a successful and dynamic Performing Arts Faculty, delivering high-quality dance education across all key stages. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of dance at a school where the arts are central to student success and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the dance department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative dance lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Develop and lead a wide range of extra-curricular and performance opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Performing Arts Faculty to create and deliver high-quality productions.
  • Support and mentor teaching staff within the department.
  • Ensure the curriculum meets the needs of all students and aligns with the school’s values and vision.
  • Promote the importance of dance and the arts within the school and wider community.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with local and national dance organizations and institutions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in dance education.
  • Strong subject knowledge and expertise in dance.
  • Experience teaching across key stages.
  • Leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive and innovative teaching practices.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or faculty.
  • Experience with extra-curricular and performance-based activities.
  • Familiarity with current dance and performing arts trends and practices.
  • Experience in a specialist arts school or similar setting.
