The Opportunity:
As the Head of Dance, you will lead a successful and dynamic Performing Arts Faculty, delivering high-quality dance education across all key stages. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of dance at a school where the arts are central to student success and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the dance department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Deliver engaging and innovative dance lessons across KS3, KS4, and KS5.
- Develop and lead a wide range of extra-curricular and performance opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Performing Arts Faculty to create and deliver high-quality productions.
- Support and mentor teaching staff within the department.
- Ensure the curriculum meets the needs of all students and aligns with the school’s values and vision.
- Promote the importance of dance and the arts within the school and wider community.
- Maintain and develop relationships with local and national dance organizations and institutions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in dance education.
- Strong subject knowledge and expertise in dance.
- Experience teaching across key stages.
- Leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to inclusive and innovative teaching practices.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or faculty.
- Experience with extra-curricular and performance-based activities.
- Familiarity with current dance and performing arts trends and practices.
- Experience in a specialist arts school or similar setting.
