The Opportunity:

The Head of Design Technology will lead the delivery of a high-quality design technology curriculum for key stages 3 and 4. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students and shape the future of design technology education within a supportive and ambitious school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the design technology curriculum for key stages 3 and 4.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in design technology, including GCSE Design Technology and Construction Health and Nutrition.
  • Inspire and motivate students to achieve high standards in design technology.
  • Support the development of extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school and trust to ensure consistent and effective pedagogical practices.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the school’s academic and cultural capital.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong academic background in design technology.
  • Proven experience in teaching design technology at key stages 3 and 4.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Commitment to the personal development of pupils.
  • Willingness to lead and support extra-curricular activities.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and leadership.
  • Knowledge of GCSE Design Technology and Construction Health and Nutrition.
  • Experience in instructional coaching or lesson observations.
  • Familiarity with a bookletised curriculum and knowledge-based teaching approaches.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust.
