The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the music department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and engaging music curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to support whole-school improvement.
  • Represent the department at meetings and events, promoting the value of music education.
  • Manage departmental resources and budgets effectively.
  • Support the school’s mission to achieve 'Outstanding' status through continuous improvement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong track record of student achievement and engagement.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use educational software.
  • Resilience and the ability to implement policies effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation.
  • Experience in leading school improvement initiatives.
