The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Head of Geography to lead and inspire a team of teachers, with a strong focus on A Level Geography. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Geography education and support students in achieving outstanding results, including progression to top universities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a dynamic and innovative Geography curriculum.
- Support student progression, including to Russell Group and Oxbridge universities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning across the school.
- Promote and integrate digital technologies into Geography lessons.
- Provide professional development and mentorship to Geography staff.
- Monitor and evaluate student performance to ensure continuous improvement.
- Engage with external partners and higher education institutions to enhance student opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in A Level Geography.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Commitment to innovative and active teaching and learning.
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Ability to teach part time (0.4 - 0.6 FTE) and potentially on an additional course.
Preferred
- Experience with digital innovation in teaching and learning.
- Background in post-16 education.
- Knowledge of enrichment activities and student engagement strategies.
- Experience in supporting students from non-traditional backgrounds.
