Head of History needed for September 2026. Lead a dynamic History department in a thriving Prep School.

The Opportunity:
As the Head of History, you will lead and inspire a team of passionate educators, delivering engaging History lessons across Years 1–6. You will play a key role in fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning in a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, engaging History lessons to pupils across Years 1–6.
- Lead and support a team of History teachers, providing guidance and professional development.
- Develop and implement a stimulating and challenging History curriculum.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, ensuring consistent standards of teaching and learning.
- Promote the value of History through extracurricular activities and school events.
- Stay up to date with developments in History education and pedagogy.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in teaching History at primary level.
- Proven leadership experience within a school or educational setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in History, with the ability to inspire and engage young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within a school.
- Familiarity with independent education and selective admissions policies.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Knowledge of innovative teaching methods and technologies.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range of £45,000–£63,000, depending on experience.
