The Opportunity:
As the Head of History Teacher, you will lead the delivery of History in the IB MYP and IGCSE curricula, shaping engaging and meaningful learning experiences for students. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence curriculum design, support student growth, and contribute to a dynamic, international school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver History lessons aligned with the IB MYP and IGCSE frameworks.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement concept-based units of inquiry with authentic assessments.
- Support and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students at all ability levels.
- Foster a constructivist learning environment that encourages student autonomy and critical thinking.
- Promote international-mindedness and service learning across the curriculum.
- Maintain high standards of organization and communication in all aspects of teaching and leadership.
- Work collaboratively with the wider school community to enhance the learning experience.
- Teach additional related subjects as required, based on departmental needs and personal expertise.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching History at the senior school level, with IB MYP and IGCSE experience.
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and curriculum framework.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, with a teaching qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a positive and approachable demeanor.
- Fluency in English (both verbal and written).
Preferred
- Experience teaching in the IB Diploma Programme (DP).
- Experience with IGCSE curriculum.
- Experience teaching a related subject such as Geography, INS, or English.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational research.
- Ability to lead and mentor other teachers within the department.
