The Opportunity:
As the Head of Universities and Career Counsellor, you will play a vital role in guiding students through their academic and career journeys. You will support students in making informed decisions about their future, while working closely with families and the school community to ensure every student thrives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised academic and career counselling to senior students, aligning their strengths and aspirations with suitable pathways.
- Guide students and families through the university application process across global systems, including research, essays, and decision-making.
- Support student wellbeing by collaborating with pastoral and academic teams to deliver coordinated care.
- Organise and lead university fairs, career days, and workshops, and coordinate visits from university representatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with universities and external partners to enhance student opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and student progress, using data to improve programme outcomes.
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, and staff about post-secondary planning and requirements.
- Stay current with global trends in higher education and career development, ensuring best practices are applied.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field, with a recognised teaching or counselling qualification.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in academic or career counselling, preferably in an international or IB school environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a large caseload effectively.
- Commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, and personalised guidance.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Preferred
- Experience with counselling platforms such as MaiaLearning, Unifrog, or Cialfo.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with best practices in counselling and higher education.
- Teaching experience in History, Geography, or similar subjects.
