The Opportunity:

As the Head of Human Resources, you will lead and shape the HR function in a school that values integrity, innovation, and excellence. You will play a key role in supporting staff, managing complex HR matters, and ensuring the school’s people strategy is both compliant and forward-thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the full HR function, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning
  • Provide strategic HR advice to senior leadership and governors on all operational and policy-related matters
  • Develop and implement policies that ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding, and GDPR standards
  • Manage pay, reward, and benefits structures to support a fair and competitive people strategy
  • Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and improve HR practices
  • Drive continuous improvement in HR systems and processes to enhance the employee experience
  • Support the development of a positive, supportive, and inclusive workplace culture
  • Oversee the management of complex employee relations cases and ensure resolution that aligns with the school’s values

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in strategic HR advisory at a senior level
  • Strong expertise in complex employee relations and employment law
  • In-depth knowledge of safer recruitment, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
  • CIPD Level 5 (minimum) qualification, with Level 7 preferred

Preferred

  • Experience in the education or independent school sector
  • Demonstrated success in leading and improving HR practices
  • Experience in managing HR systems and data analytics tools
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
