The Opportunity:
As the Head of Human Resources, you will lead and shape the HR function in a school that values integrity, innovation, and excellence. You will play a key role in supporting staff, managing complex HR matters, and ensuring the school’s people strategy is both compliant and forward-thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the full HR function, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning
- Provide strategic HR advice to senior leadership and governors on all operational and policy-related matters
- Develop and implement policies that ensure compliance with employment law, safeguarding, and GDPR standards
- Manage pay, reward, and benefits structures to support a fair and competitive people strategy
- Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and improve HR practices
- Drive continuous improvement in HR systems and processes to enhance the employee experience
- Support the development of a positive, supportive, and inclusive workplace culture
- Oversee the management of complex employee relations cases and ensure resolution that aligns with the school’s values
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in strategic HR advisory at a senior level
- Strong expertise in complex employee relations and employment law
- In-depth knowledge of safer recruitment, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving
- CIPD Level 5 (minimum) qualification, with Level 7 preferred
Preferred
- Experience in the education or independent school sector
- Demonstrated success in leading and improving HR practices
- Experience in managing HR systems and data analytics tools
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
