The Opportunity:
As a Senior Science Technician, you will provide specialist technical support to the Science department, ensuring a safe and well-resourced learning environment. This role is integral to helping students become confident and successful learners, and to contributing to the school’s positive ethos and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain science equipment, resources, and laboratory environments to support effective teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with Science department staff to prepare and deliver practical lessons and experiments.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all science-related activities.
- Support students in developing practical skills and understanding through hands-on learning experiences.
- Assist in the development and implementation of science curriculum resources and materials.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school by participating in events, initiatives, and extracurricular activities.
- Provide general technical support to staff and students across the school.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and inventory.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a science laboratory or technical support role within an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of science equipment, safety procedures, and practical teaching methods.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and other support staff.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a school setting, ideally within a high-performing institution.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and resource creation for science education.
- Experience with digital tools and software used in education and laboratory management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
