The Opportunity:

As a Senior Science Technician, you will provide specialist technical support to the Science department, ensuring a safe and well-resourced learning environment. This role is integral to helping students become confident and successful learners, and to contributing to the school’s positive ethos and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain science equipment, resources, and laboratory environments to support effective teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with Science department staff to prepare and deliver practical lessons and experiments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all science-related activities.
  • Support students in developing practical skills and understanding through hands-on learning experiences.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of science curriculum resources and materials.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school by participating in events, initiatives, and extracurricular activities.
  • Provide general technical support to staff and students across the school.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and inventory.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a science laboratory or technical support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of science equipment, safety procedures, and practical teaching methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and other support staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school setting, ideally within a high-performing institution.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and resource creation for science education.
  • Experience with digital tools and software used in education and laboratory management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
