The Opportunity:

The Head of Mathematics will lead and inspire the Maths department, shaping a dynamic curriculum that nurtures curiosity and confidence in students. This role also includes pastoral responsibilities as a KS2 Form Teacher, supporting student wellbeing and growth within a vibrant school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Mathematics department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Deliver a dynamic and engaging curriculum that promotes curiosity and a love of mathematics.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
  • Act as a KS2 Form Teacher, providing pastoral care and guidance to students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring continuous improvement in academic outcomes.
  • Stay up to date with educational trends and implement innovative teaching strategies.
  • Represent the department in school meetings and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the school.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and procedures while promoting a positive and inclusive environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, preferably in a senior academic role.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics with experience of teaching across Key Stages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a department and lead a team effectively.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Familiarity with assessment and reporting systems.
  • Experience with KS2 pastoral responsibilities and student support.
  • Knowledge of current educational research and teaching methodologies.
