The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead a vibrant department and play a key role in shaping the academic direction of a school. This is a unique opportunity to influence curriculum development, student achievement, and teacher performance in a growing institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies and practices that align with the school’s vision and commitment to high standards of achievement.
  • Monitor and evaluate short, medium, and long-term plans for departmental development.
  • Use data to identify underachieving students and create targeted support strategies.
  • Analyse school data and research to inform teaching and learning methods.
  • Ensure schemes of work are developed and reviewed for all year groups, with provision for SEN, G&T, and EAL students.
  • Set expectations for staff in relation to standards of achievement and quality of teaching and learning.
  • Evaluate teaching and learning practices and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to the school’s CAS Programme and after-school booster sessions.
  • Manage team performance in accordance with school policy.
  • Hold regular department meetings focused on improving student achievement and teaching quality.
  • Efficiently deploy staff, resources, and budgets to support departmental goals.
  • Ensure a safe and stimulating learning environment in line with health and safety policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification.
  • Minimum of 6 years teaching English National Curriculum.
  • Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.

  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration for the well-being of children.
  • Experience in leading and managing a department.
