The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Inspire and motivate students across KS3 to KS5, fostering a love of mathematics and encouraging excellent academic outcomes.
  • Support and mentor colleagues within the department, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the pastoral and wider curriculum life of the school, ensuring a holistic approach to student development.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing strategies to raise achievement and close gaps.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s strategic vision.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school’s values.
  • Represent the department in meetings, conferences, and external events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching mathematics at KS3 to KS5.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally as a Head of Department.
  • A strong track record of achieving excellent student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a large or successful department.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and assessment practices.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience with boarding and day school environments.
