The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Head of Modern Foreign Languages Department to lead a successful team and deliver high-quality A-Level Spanish and French courses. This role offers the opportunity to shape curriculum development and support student success in a thriving academic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages Department, including teaching staff and language assistants.
  • Deliver and oversee the A-Level Spanish and French curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies to improve student outcomes and engagement.
  • Provide professional development and mentorship for teaching staff within the department.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align departmental goals with school-wide objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Manage course administration, including timetabling, resources, and assessment processes.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school’s values.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching A-Level Spanish, with a strong understanding of the curriculum.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience or the potential to progress into a Head of Department role.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of teaching staff and language assistants.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and student achievement.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching A-Level French.
  • Previous experience in a senior leadership or management role within education.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies and technology integration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
