Exams Officer needed to support internal and external examinations at a leading independent school.

The Opportunity:

As an Exams Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of internal and external examinations for students. This is a key position within the academic operations of the school, requiring a high level of organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex administrative tasks with professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the full examination cycle, including entries, timetables, and exam materials.
  • Support invigilation and ensure compliance with JCQ and awarding body requirements.
  • Assist in the delivery of Modern Languages oral examinations and manage access arrangements.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain accurate records throughout the process.
  • Work closely with the Head of Exams to plan and deliver examinations efficiently and effectively.
  • Support post-results administration, including results processing and reporting.
  • Ensure all logistical aspects of examinations are well-organised and meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of examination procedures and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong administrative experience with a proven ability to manage complex processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure during busy periods.
  • Confidence in handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience in school administration or examinations, or the ability to demonstrate strong judgement and professionalism.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in examinations or school administration.
  • Familiarity with JCQ and awarding body requirements.
  • Experience with Modern Languages oral examinations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
