Key Responsibilities:

• Strategically lead and manage the PE and Vocational Department to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
• Develop and implement an engaging extra-curricular and enrichment programme for students.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on student progress and attainment across all cohorts.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment with school-wide goals and priorities.
• Support and mentor teachers within the department to enhance their professional development.
• Liaise with external agencies, parents and other schools to ensure continuity and support for students.
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student achievement and discipline.
• Ensure compliance with the Teachers’ Standards and school policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience in leading a department within a school setting.
• Strong classroom teaching experience with a focus on PE and vocational subjects.
• Demonstrated ability to improve student attainment and progress.
• Experience in managing and developing staff within a school environment.
• Familiarity with the Teachers’ Standards in England and relevant education legislation.

Preferred

• Experience in developing and delivering extra-curricular programmes.
• Leadership experience in a school or educational institution.
• Experience with curriculum development and assessment strategies.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
