The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of PE to lead a high-profile subject that plays a central role in student development. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PE department with energy, vision, and a clear focus on student outcomes.
- Deliver high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 that promote discipline, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Develop and implement an engaging extra-curricular programme that enhances student participation and sporting excellence.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving best practice in teaching and learning across the department.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure PE contributes to the school’s overall mission and values.
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and staff to support a positive school environment.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of all learners.
- Represent the PE department at school and trust level, contributing to strategic planning and development.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching PE at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Strong classroom leadership and the ability to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
- Experience in leading a department and managing a team of staff.
- Commitment to student development, behaviour, and pastoral care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation in PE.
- Leadership experience within a school or trust setting.
- Familiarity with the central academies trust ethos and values.
- Experience in promoting student engagement and participation in sport.
- Strong track record in driving improvement and achieving outstanding outcomes.
