The Opportunity:
As the Head of Girls PE, you will lead and inspire a team dedicated to promoting physical education and sport. This role offers the chance to shape the future of physical education and contribute to the holistic development of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PE department with a focus on girls’ participation and achievement in sport.
- Develop and implement a high-quality, inclusive PE curriculum aligned with the school’s vision and values.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring all students are supported to reach their full potential.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate PE with academic and personal development.
- Provide professional development and mentorship for PE staff.
- Organise and oversee extracurricular sporting activities and events.
- Promote a culture of physical activity and healthy lifestyles across the school.
- Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to the strategic development of the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a PE department within a secondary school setting.
- Strong knowledge of physical education and sport, including current best practices and curriculum requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of teachers and support staff.
- Commitment to the school’s values and ethos, including inclusivity, student success, and equal opportunities.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department with a focus on girls’ sports and physical development.
- Background in sports coaching or related qualifications.
- Experience with Ofsted inspections or working in an outstanding school.
- Familiarity with enrichment programs and extracurricular activities.
- Experience in developing and delivering CPD for staff.
