The Opportunity:

As an Art Subject Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and driving academic excellence in art. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to take on a leadership role and make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and school performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a high-quality, engaging art curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Lead and support the art department to ensure consistent delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate leadership and character development into the art programme.
  • Promote creativity, innovation, and student engagement through extracurricular activities and events.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to drive continuous improvement and achieve departmental targets.
  • Coach and mentor other teachers to enhance their practice and contribute to a culture of excellence.
  • Ensure the art department aligns with the school’s vision and values, including leadership and character development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven ability to teach to GCSE standard
  • Experience in leading a subject department and driving improvements in student outcomes
  • Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and coach colleagues to achieve targets

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation
  • Background in leadership training or character development programmes
  • Experience of working in a multi-academy trust or similar educational setting
  • Familiarity with the Star Academies values and mission
