The Opportunity:

As the Head of PE & Games, you will lead and inspire a dynamic Health and Physical Education department, delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that promote fitness, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits among young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver high-quality physical education lessons aligned with Key Stage 1 curriculum requirements
• Develop and implement creative games activities that foster teamwork and enjoyment
• Support colleagues in embedding best practices across the school
• Organise and manage extracurricular sports events and activities
• Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity and healthy lifestyles
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate PE into a thematic curriculum
• Provide leadership and guidance to teaching staff within the PE department
• Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in primary physical education
• Qualified teacher status with relevant certification
• Strong knowledge of Key Stage 1 PE curriculum requirements
• Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and staff
• Ability to plan inclusive and creative lessons for diverse learners

Preferred

• Leadership experience managing or coordinating teams
• Experience in organising extracurricular sports activities or events
• Familiarity with thematic and cross-curricular teaching approaches
• Commitment to continuous professional development
