The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE & Games, you will lead and inspire a dynamic Health and Physical Education department, delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that promote fitness, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits among young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality physical education lessons aligned with Key Stage 1 curriculum requirements
- Develop and implement creative games activities that foster teamwork and enjoyment
- Support colleagues in embedding best practices across the school
- Organise and manage extracurricular sports events and activities
- Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity and healthy lifestyles
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate PE into a thematic curriculum
- Provide leadership and guidance to teaching staff within the PE department
- Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in primary physical education
- Qualified teacher status with relevant certification
- Strong knowledge of Key Stage 1 PE curriculum requirements
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to plan inclusive and creative lessons for diverse learners
Preferred
- Leadership experience managing or coordinating teams
- Experience in organising extracurricular sports activities or events
- Familiarity with thematic and cross-curricular teaching approaches
- Commitment to continuous professional development
