The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Head of Psychology Department to lead and develop the subject within a dynamic and supportive school. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Psychology Department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a robust and engaging curriculum that aligns with the school’s academic standards.
  • Supervise and support departmental staff, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, ensuring that all learners achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and enhance student learning.
  • Represent the department in meetings and contribute to the strategic direction of the school.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, safeguarding, and well-being within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Psychology.
  • Proven experience in leading a department, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Experience in curriculum design and assessment strategies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in a co-educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the latest developments in Psychology education.
  • Experience in leading departmental initiatives and external partnerships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and supporting early career teachers.
