The Opportunity:
The Head of Psychology will lead the Psychology department, delivering high-quality teaching and shaping a world-class curriculum aligned with the school's vision of Challenge for All and Teach to 25. This role offers the chance to influence student success and contribute to a dynamic academic community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Psychology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative curriculum that meets the school's educational vision.
- Provide outstanding classroom teaching and support students in preparing for higher education in Psychology-related fields.
- Take on a form tutor role and contribute actively to the co-curricular life of the school.
- Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
- Collaborate with the Senior School Leadership Team to ensure alignment with school-wide goals.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence and student well-being.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the school.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a classroom teacher with a strong background in Psychology.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a department effectively.
- A clear vision for curriculum development and delivery.
- Experience supporting students in applying to higher education courses.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Knowledge of teaching to 25 and the Challenge for All initiative.
- Experience with co-curricular program development.
- Experience with child protection screening and safeguarding procedures.
