The Opportunity:

The Head of Psychology will lead the Psychology department, delivering high-quality teaching and shaping a world-class curriculum aligned with the school's vision of Challenge for All and Teach to 25. This role offers the chance to influence student success and contribute to a dynamic academic community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Psychology department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative curriculum that meets the school's educational vision.
  • Provide outstanding classroom teaching and support students in preparing for higher education in Psychology-related fields.
  • Take on a form tutor role and contribute actively to the co-curricular life of the school.
  • Support and mentor junior staff within the department.
  • Collaborate with the Senior School Leadership Team to ensure alignment with school-wide goals.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence and student well-being.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a classroom teacher with a strong background in Psychology.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage a department effectively.
  • A clear vision for curriculum development and delivery.
  • Experience supporting students in applying to higher education courses.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Knowledge of teaching to 25 and the Challenge for All initiative.
  • Experience with co-curricular program development.
  • Experience with child protection screening and safeguarding procedures.
