The Opportunity:

As the Head of Religious Studies, you will lead and inspire the teaching of Religious Studies and TPR across Years 5 to 8, while contributing to the school’s wider curriculum and pastoral care. This role offers the chance to shape young minds and make a meaningful impact in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the teaching of Religious Studies and TPR across Years 5 to 8.
  • Oversee and monitor the curriculum from Year 1 to Year 8.
  • Act as a Form Tutor and contribute to the pastoral care of students.
  • Support the delivery of SMSC across the school and contribute to the assembly programme.
  • Collaborate with the Senior School to ensure a cohesive and progressive curriculum.
  • Participate in key calendared events and contribute to the school’s spiritual and cultural life.
  • Promote excellence in teaching and learning, ensuring high standards of achievement.
  • Support the development of staff and students through collaboration and leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching Religious Studies or a related subject at a senior level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a department.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery across multiple year groups.
  • Commitment to pastoral care and student well-being.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to contribute to all aspects of school life, including boarding duties.

Preferred

  • Experience in a boarding school or similar educational setting.
  • Familiarity with TPR (Theology, Philosophy and Religion) curriculum.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) development.
  • Experience in working within a through-school environment.
  • Strong record of academic achievement and student outcomes.
