The Opportunity:
As the Head of Religious Studies, you will lead and inspire the teaching of Religious Studies and TPR across Years 5 to 8, while contributing to the school’s wider curriculum and pastoral care. This role offers the chance to shape young minds and make a meaningful impact in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the teaching of Religious Studies and TPR across Years 5 to 8.
- Oversee and monitor the curriculum from Year 1 to Year 8.
- Act as a Form Tutor and contribute to the pastoral care of students.
- Support the delivery of SMSC across the school and contribute to the assembly programme.
- Collaborate with the Senior School to ensure a cohesive and progressive curriculum.
- Participate in key calendared events and contribute to the school’s spiritual and cultural life.
- Promote excellence in teaching and learning, ensuring high standards of achievement.
- Support the development of staff and students through collaboration and leadership.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in teaching Religious Studies or a related subject at a senior level.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead a department.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery across multiple year groups.
- Commitment to pastoral care and student well-being.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Willingness to contribute to all aspects of school life, including boarding duties.
Preferred
- Experience in a boarding school or similar educational setting.
- Familiarity with TPR (Theology, Philosophy and Religion) curriculum.
- Experience in leading or contributing to SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) development.
- Experience in working within a through-school environment.
- Strong record of academic achievement and student outcomes.
