Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the science department to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a dynamic and challenging science curriculum.
  • Support and mentor science teachers to enhance their professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate science across the curriculum.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure outstanding outcomes.
  • Represent the science department at school and external events.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to align departmental goals with school objectives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in science education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Strong knowledge of science curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting equality and inclusion in education.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a science department or similar role.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with STEM initiatives and outreach programs.
  • Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar organization.
