Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English across the age range with a strong focus on literacy, oracy, and scholarship.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the co-curricular programme.
  • Promote the importance of English in the classroom and beyond.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to innovate and enhance the department’s teaching and learning practices.
  • Support the school’s mission to provide a progressive and inclusive education.
  • Engage in examiner work or pursue it as part of the role.
  • Play an active role in the school’s community and wider educational initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong subject knowledge in English.
  • Experience in teaching across the age range.
  • Commitment to fostering scholarly readers, confident writers, and articulate communicators.
  • Ability to contribute positively to a collaborative and innovative department.
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in examiner work or a desire to pursue it.
  • Interest or experience in running Senior School debating.
  • Experience in developing and delivering co-curricular activities.
  • Background in promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
