The Opportunity:
As Head of Science, you will lead the Science department and drive academic excellence across the school. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and inspire students with a passion for Science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the Science department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all students.
- Develop and implement innovative Science policies and procedures to enhance student outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Headteacher to set and achieve departmental targets and improvement plans.
- Deliver Science lessons and contribute to the wider curriculum, including off-site teaching where appropriate.
- Promote student wellbeing and personal development as part of a supportive school culture.
- Undertake additional responsibilities to support whole-school effectiveness and improvement.
- Ensure the welfare and safeguarding of all students at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven leadership experience in a Science department.
- Strong knowledge of Science curriculum and pedagogy.
- Experience in improving student achievement and engagement in Science.
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior staff and across the school.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in specialist education or working with students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Familiarity with therapeutic and holistic approaches to education.
- Experience in curriculum innovation and development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
