The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Science to lead a small department and inspire students in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at GCSE level. This role offers the chance to shape a dynamic department and contribute to a school committed to academic excellence and student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a small Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all Science subjects.
  • Deliver and develop Biology, Chemistry, and Physics curricula at GCSE level to the highest standard.
  • Monitor and support the professional development of departmental staff.
  • Promote and enhance extracurricular engagement in Science within the school.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and educational philosophy.
  • Contribute to school life and take an active role in the wider community.
  • Ensure the department consistently achieves excellent student outcomes and progress.
  • Support the implementation of innovative teaching and learning strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience of teaching GCSE Science to a high standard.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a school department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Commitment to student achievement and academic excellence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership.
