The Opportunity:

As the Head of Secondary Maths, you will lead the maths department and teach across Key Stage 3, with future growth into Key Stage 4 and 5. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of maths education and deliver exceptional outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the maths department to ensure consistently outstanding teaching and learning
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that inspire and challenge students across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5
  • Use student data to personalise learning and optimise progress
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and current understanding of exam boards and pathways
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and drive continuous improvement
  • Promote the safeguarding and personal development of students
  • Engage actively in the school’s extra-curricular programme and community events
  • Pursue ongoing professional development as a leader and teacher
  • Support the school’s strategic growth plans and contribute to a high-performance culture

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Recognised UK teaching qualification with QTS
  • Proven experience in leading a maths department
  • Strong subject knowledge of maths across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5
  • Experience in driving academic standards and student outcomes
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare

Preferred

  • Experience with the NCfE curriculum
  • Knowledge of GCSE, A level and BTEC pathways
  • Experience in a high-performing school environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for teaching and innovation in education
