Head of Sports to lead vibrant sports and enrichment programs at a dynamic school in London.

The Opportunity:

As Head of Sports, you will lead the development of a vibrant and enriching sports program, driving excellence in PE and fostering confidence, resilience, and teamwork across all age groups. This is a pivotal role in supporting the school’s vision for student wellbeing and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a dynamic sports and enrichment program tailored to the needs of pupils and families.
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of wraparound and holiday provision.
  • Deliver high-quality PE and sports instruction that promotes physical literacy and lifelong participation.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and external partners to enhance sports and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Ensure the delivery of an inclusive and inspiring program that supports every child’s social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Foster a culture of confidence, kindness, and discovery through sports and enrichment activities.
  • Support the school’s strategic goals by contributing to the development of a cohesive and impactful sports program.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health, and safety standards in all activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent) and a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in teaching PE and delivering sports and enrichment programs to children across a range of age groups.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, health, and safety standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.

Preferred

  • Experience in managing a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Background in developing and implementing school-wide sports and enrichment initiatives.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment in PE and sports.
  • Strong understanding of child development and wellbeing.
  • Familiarity with Cognita’s values and educational approach.
