The Opportunity:

The Head of PE teacher will lead the development of a dynamic and engaging sports program that supports the physical and mental well-being of students. This role is ideal for a passionate and experienced PE teacher who is committed to promoting active lifestyles and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive PE and sports curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Introduce and manage a fitness program for the sixth form, promoting health and well-being.
  • Expand and enhance the after-school sports program to encourage participation and talent development.
  • Lead the Duke of Edinburgh programme in collaboration with the coordinator.
  • Ensure a high-quality, inclusive, and stimulating PE experience for each year group.
  • Support and mentor PE staff to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Promote a culture of physical activity and healthy living throughout the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in PE at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or college setting.
  • Strong knowledge of sports and physical education curriculum development.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or managing a PE department.
  • Familiarity with the Duke of Edinburgh programme.
  • Experience in developing and implementing fitness programs for students.
  • Experience with curriculum design and assessment strategies.
