The Opportunity:
As the Head of Year, you will play a key role in leading and supporting a year group, ensuring students achieve their full potential. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, working within a collaborative and forward-thinking school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pastoral and academic needs of a year group.
- Develop and implement strategies to support student progress and address barriers to learning.
- Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure student well-being and success.
- Monitor and report on student behavior, attendance, and academic performance.
- Organise and oversee extracurricular activities and events for the year group.
- Provide guidance and support to students, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with other Heads of Year and senior leadership to drive school improvement.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the school’s curriculum and pastoral policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role, preferably within a secondary school setting.
- Strong classroom teaching experience, ideally in Maths, Science, English or Humanities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Preferred
- Experience in a Head of Year or similar leadership role.
- Familiarity with the United Learning curriculum and resources.
- Experience in managing student behavior and supporting students with additional needs.
- A passion for education and a commitment to student success.
