The Opportunity:

As a Health and Wellbeing Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the health and emotional wellbeing of students and staff. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people and contribute to a supportive and inclusive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead first aid provision and act as the primary point of contact for medical assistance.
  • Manage the storage, administration, and accurate record-keeping of medicines and first aid supplies.
  • Develop and maintain Individual Healthcare Plans for students with SEND.
  • Provide one-to-one emotional support and crisis management for students in need.
  • Facilitate referrals to external specialist services to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Contribute to SEND support plans where mental health concerns impact learning.
  • Develop and maintain "Safe Spaces" for students to regulate and feel supported.
  • Plan and lead health events to engage parents and carers in student wellbeing.
  • Promote health initiatives through assemblies, PD sessions, and school events.
  • Launch and lead a "Healthy Schools" student group to empower student voice.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified First Aider or willingness to undergo immediate training.
  • Experience working within a school environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage medical or emotional crises.

Preferred

  • Experience in mental health support or student wellbeing initiatives.
  • Background in developing and implementing health and wellbeing programs.
  • Knowledge of SEND support and inclusive education practices.
