The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will play a critical role in protecting vulnerable students and ensuring their well-being. This position involves managing safeguarding referrals, coordinating multi-agency interventions, and maintaining detailed records through CPOMS. You will be a key member of the team dedicated to promoting the safety and potential of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the school’s response to safeguarding concerns and disclosures.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation using CPOMS.
  • Coordinate multi-agency approaches to child protection issues and initiate referrals to external agencies when necessary.
  • Act as the lead professional in Team Around the Child meetings when appropriate.
  • Work directly with children, families, and external agencies to support vulnerable students.
  • Collate and produce statistical information related to safeguarding.
  • Manage in-year admissions in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Support the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation.
  • Experience in managing safeguarding referrals and multi-agency working.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Experience in using safeguarding management systems such as CPOMS.

Preferred

  • Experience in educational settings, particularly in schools.
  • Experience in leading or participating in Team Around the Child meetings.
  • Experience in producing statistical reports related to safeguarding.
  • Experience in managing admissions processes.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures within the education sector.
