The Opportunity:

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Higher Learning Teaching Assistant to join our Inclusive Learning Faculty. This role involves specialist SEND training and working in an HLTA capacity to support students in class and through small group work. The successful candidate will play a vital role in improving student achievement and contributing to a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in class and through small group work in Literacy, SEMH, or Hearing Impairment.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support to enhance student achievement and progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individual learning plans.
  • Undertake specialist SEND training and complete Level 5 SCITT specialist training through an apprenticeship scheme.
  • Assist in the Learning Support Centre and provide support in a HLTA capacity when required.
  • Participate in ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and training opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with teachers and parents regarding student progress.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the school’s values and mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Willingness to undertake specialist SEND training and complete Level 5 SCITT specialist training.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a teaching or learning support role.
  • Experience with Literacy, SEMH, or Hearing Impairment support.
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices and strategies.
  • Experience with educational software and programmes used in support settings.
