The Opportunity:

As a History Teacher, you will play a key role in inspiring students and delivering high-quality lessons that promote a deep understanding of history. You will be part of a successful and supportive department, working in a school that values collaboration, innovation, and excellence in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and impactful history lessons that align with curriculum expectations.
  • Develop and adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of all students, including those with EAL, PP, and SEND.
  • Use a consistent and assertive approach to behaviour management in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the department to share resources and support each other’s professional development.
  • Take an active role in extra-curricular activities, including trips and university links.
  • Stay up to date with best practices in teaching and learning, and be open to ongoing training and development.
  • Support students in developing mastery in history, addressing misconceptions and building confidence.
  • Contribute to the department's success by maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in teaching history at KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong subject knowledge in history, with the potential to teach at KS5 depending on experience.
  • Confidence in using a clear and consistent behavioural policy.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging and impactful lessons.
  • Commitment to working as part of a collaborative and supportive team.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language (EAL) students.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to extra-curricular activities.
  • Experience in developing and delivering schemes of work.
  • Experience in working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
