The Opportunity:
As a Hockey Coach, you will play a key role in developing young athletes and fostering a passion for the sport. You will lead training sessions, support individual player growth, and contribute to a dynamic and successful hockey programme that consistently ranks among the best in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach pupils across a range of ages and abilities, including those with national potential.
- Lead and prepare teams for training sessions and fixtures.
- Deliver tailored coaching and constructive feedback to support individual development.
- Assist with the daily hockey programme, including equipment organisation and maintenance.
- Ensure all facilities are safe, well-maintained, and ready for use.
- Promote safeguarding and health and safety at all times.
- Mentor pupils and support other sports across the school.
- Undertake reasonable duties to assist the smooth running of the PE Department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A strong background in hockey, supported by a Level 1 or Level 2 coaching qualification.
- Experience of playing to a high level and the ability to coach pupils confidently across a range of abilities.
- Excellent organisation and proactive working habits, with strong communication skills.
- Up-to-date technical knowledge and a commitment to safe, professional coaching practice.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a busy sports team.
Preferred
- Experience in coaching at national or Olympic level.
- Experience with safeguarding and health and safety protocols.
- Strong relationship-building skills and alignment with the school’s values.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly rate starting from £20 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.
