The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Teacher, you will support pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving academic and personal success. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in a collaborative and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality, individual, paired, and small group teaching to support pupils with specific learning difficulties.
- Plan and deliver subject-based and skills-based lessons that address barriers to learning and develop study skills.
- Monitor pupil progress and adapt support strategies based on assessment and prior attainment.
- Work closely with classroom teachers, academic mentors, and parents to ensure consistent and joined-up support.
- Contribute to the development of learning support schemes of work, resources, and intervention programmes.
- Support pupils through key transitions, including preparation for higher education.
- Act as a Form Tutor or Deputy Form Tutor and contribute to the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities and pastoral care.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A good honours degree.
- Strong interest in supporting pupils with specific learning difficulties.
- Commitment to safeguarding and professional conduct.
Preferred
- Postgraduate teaching qualification with QTS.
- Experience in SpLD support, specialist assessment, or study skills teaching.
- Experience working with pupils with learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, ASC, or organisational and communication difficulties.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and ICT skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and sensitively with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
