The Opportunity:
As a Homeroom Teacher Lower School, you will play a central role in shaping the academic and personal growth of students in PK3 to Grade 5. You will lead a homeroom class, design innovative curriculum experiences, and build a supportive learning community that nurtures every student's potential. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver instruction in core subjects aligned with American Common Core or similar standards.
- Design engaging, inquiry-based units that integrate cross-disciplinary learning and hands-on experiences.
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including EAL students and those with additional needs.
- Use assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive discipline and restorative practices.
- Communicate effectively with families through regular updates, meetings, and conferences.
- Collaborate with specialist teachers to ensure consistent learning goals and experiences.
- Participate in curriculum planning, grade-level meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
- Supervise students during meals, transitions, and other non-instructional times.
- Contribute to school events, celebrations, and seasonal activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or a relevant subject area.
- Valid teaching license or certification.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching in a Lower School setting.
- Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and conceptual math teaching.
- Ability to support EAL students and understand language acquisition processes.
- Excellent communication and empathy skills with young children.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Strong safeguarding awareness and emotional resilience.
Preferred
- Experience teaching in an American curriculum setting.
- Experience with project-based learning and inquiry-based instruction.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for designing innovative lessons.
- Strong mediation and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience leading extracurricular activities or student events.
