Job Description

Summary:

HR Officer required at a forward-thinking school. Support the Head of HR with a wide range of HR responsibilities.

The Opportunity:

The HR Officer will provide a professional and approachable HR service to the entire school community. This is a key role in supporting the Head of HR and ensuring the smooth operation of all HR functions, including payroll, recruitment, and statutory reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including advertising, shortlisting, and interview arrangements.
  • Handle HR administration, including issuing contracts of employment and managing employee records.
  • Process DBS checks and ensure compliance with all safeguarding requirements.
  • Coordinate statutory returns, such as the workforce census and other required data submissions.
  • Maintain strong communication with staff, students, families, and governors.
  • Support the Head of HR in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law and maintain accurate HR records.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Strong experience in payroll processing and HR administration.
  • Hands-on involvement in recruitment activities and knowledge of employment terms and conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to use HR management systems.

Preferred

  • Experience working within a school environment.
  • Flexibility to meet the varied needs of a large school.
  • Experience with statutory reporting and data submission processes.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection procedures.
